The Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT was a partner in the events held on 17-23 of November 2014 wt the Warsaw University of Technology as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week. The campaign was a part of an international project promoting entrepreneurship and encouraging business initiatives. This goal is also a part of CEZAMAT's mission that includes active support for entrepreneurship among young scientists. The Global Entrepreneurship Week in Poland was organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Week Fund and Youth Forum of Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan
The Global Entrepreneurship Week was first established in the US and United Kingdom and was originated by Carl Schramm, the CEO of US-based Kauffmann Fund, UK's ex-Prime Minister Gordon Brown and a British organization Make Your Mark. The idea behind the event is to promote entrepreneurship understood not only as running one's own business activity but also as conscious development of one's own career path, and promotion of knowledge and skills in young individuals - students, alumni, start-up founders and individuals planning their own business activities.
The world's largest "entrepreneurship festival" is held in more than 140 countries each year since 2008. Every year, the number of participants approaches 10 million and more than 1000 events are held. As part of the GEW, the Warsaw University of Technology holds free trainings, workshops, debates and contests promoting the knowledge on the development of own business, establishing professional contact networks, founding start-ups negotiations or brand building.
The main events held wt the Warsaw University of Technology will be the CEO Generations Forum (CGF) and the PRINT 3D SHOW fair. CEO Generations Forum (CGF) is an initiative aimed at presentation of good business models, providing information of entrepreneurship support instruments as well as coaching for current or future entrepreneurs for the youngest members of the WUT academic community. The PRINT 3D SHOW fair is Poland's first really professional fair dedicated to 3D scanning and printing, presenting state-of-the-art technological solutions as well providing information of manufacturers and their product portfolios.
The program of the Global Entrepreneurship Week includes also the events organized by the Warsaw University of Technology Careers' Office, including the "Small Business Development" workshop by TaxCare or "Development of Business Models" meeting held by Academic Business Incubators. The Warsaw University of Technology Careers' Office offers the opportunity to meet career consultants while WUT's students and graduates will present the inside stories of establishing their companies as part of the StartUp Masters session.
The honorary patronage over the Global Entrepreneurship Week at the Warsaw University of Technology was taken by the university's rector, prof. Jan Szmidt. Besides CEZAMAT, the campaign is partnered by Grow Up Start Up Fund and Pro Development Sp. z o.o. The event is organized by the Careers' Office and the Office for Research and Strategic Projects of the Warsaw University of Technology. Media partnership is offered by natemat.pl.
The Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT actively supports the initiatives such as the Global Entrepreneurship Week as CEZAMAT's mission is not only to establish one of the most advanced research and implementation centres in Europe, but also to initiate a common platform for the exchange of ideas and collaboration between scientific and business communities with the purpose of promoting ambitious, interdisciplinary projects of young scientists that would contribute to the increased competitiveness of Poland's economy.
